Bill Vandivier, DO has over 15 years of experience in the health care industry both as a practicing primary care physician as well as in executive leadership roles within health systems and a complex multispecialty physician group. Most recently he has served as the President and Chief Physician Executive for a large, health system aligned medical group with more than 473 providers and over $200 Mil in net revenue. While a practicing physician Dr. Vandivier also served as a physician expert on information technology/IT issues.
Dr. Vandivier’s specific experience and accomplishments include:

Served as a practicing primary care physician on a full time basis for over 10 years before moving into significant leadership roles.

Facilitated an alignment process which resulted in the purchase/employment of an independent pulmonology medicine group with 15+ providers including the development of a next generation provider compensation model.

Led a performance improvement process resulting in a significant financial and operational turnaround including improvements in provider productivity, non-provider staffing productivity, revenue cycle performance and overall growth in providers, revenues and patient visits.

Development and implementation of significant changes to primary care physician and midlevel provider compensation plans including calculation mechanics and the introduction of new non-production incentives tied to ACO and operational metrics.

Due to Dr. Vandivier’s expertise/proficiency in clinical informatics/EHRs, he participated in a national rollout of an ERH including training, management and system design.
Dr. Vandivier is board certified in Family Practice as well as Preventative Medicine. He earned his B.A. in Biology from Grand View College in Des Moines, IA and his Doctor of Osteopathy at Des Moines University. He also holds memberships in the American Academy of Family Practice, the American Medical Association, the Iowa Academy of Family Practice, the American Medical Informatics Association and the Polk County Medical Society. In addition to being and experienced author and presenter, he holds multiple leadership roles in the Des Moines community.
