Harold Z. Emahiser, CIRA, CPA, MHA, is an experienced healthcare finance executive with over 20 years of experience. Harold has extensive healthcare experience, and has provided consultative services to hospitals, HMOs, nursing homes and physician groups.  His experience is centered where strategy, finance and healthcare intersect, which results in his ability to evaluate an organization’s current operations as well as project its future prospects. Harold has substantial health care finance and forecasting experience, including:

  • Significant turnaround experience at financially distressed hospitals and systems (over 25 different organizations).

  • Financial modeling at 7 different health care systems with over $1B in annual revenues.

  • Interim CFO experience, being directly responsible for the day to day oversight and monitoring of the hospital’s operations and cash position, as well as the development and evaluation of budgets, performance improvement initiatives, assessing financial viability and the feasibility of restructuring plans, and other proposed exit strategies.

  • Other relevant healthcare experience includes financial feasibility studies, forensic accounting and expert testimony.

  • Physician strategy analysis and modeling, including evaluation of physician practice purchase and recruitment, ownership of ASCs, implant costs, and compensation strategies.

 

Harold’s affiliations include the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Healthcare Financial Management Association, where he previously served as the Chair of the Managed Care Committee.  He has been a guest lecturer at the University of Minnesota, teaching graduate level finance sessions at the Carlson School of Management and has served on a task force that developed the finance curriculum taught at the University of Minnesota’s Masters in Health Administration program.

 

Harold is a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA) and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).  He received a Master’s in Health Administration from the University of Minnesota and a B.A. in Management/Economics from Augsburg College.
